Teacher Evaluation
A requirement of all principals is to appraise the effectiveness of teachers against the professional standards. For various reasons this can be problematic. An unbiased assessment of the teacher’s competency conducted by an outside consultant is often a useful strategy in identifying areas of strength and weakness. The full agreement of the teacher concerned is a condition of this service.
Package 1
This consists of:
- Establishing a process of teacher appraisal with teacher and principal
- Identifying areas for development
- Proposing a performance agreement
- Observing the teacher in action
- Discussing teacher competency with supervisors and senior managers
- Considering past appraisal reports
- Providing oral feedback to the teacher and principal
- Providing a written report against the goals of the performance agreement
